Northwest Regional Health New Emergency Department

Winfield, Ala. - Northwest Regional Health will unveil its new $4 million Emergency Department on Friday, June 16th with a ribbon cutting at 1:00 pm and tours for the community from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm. The state-of-the-art facility represents a significant community investment for the emergency medical care of Marion, Lamar, Fayette, and Winston Counties.

"We are thrilled to open this new Emergency Department in Winfield," said Dr. Martin Hajjar, Northwest Regional Health Emergency Department Director. "Our goal is to provide the best possible care to patients in need, and this new facility will allow us to do just that."

The new Emergency Department is staffed by highly trained doctors and nurses dedicated to providing the highest quality care to patients in need. The department is equipped with the latest medical technology and equipment with a modern design and layout to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. The new 10-bed, 9,500 plus square foot facility will transform patient care at the hospital. It includes spacious trauma bays, all private exam rooms, negative pressure exam room, separate negative pressure waiting room, as well as a decontamination area.

The hub of our healthcare system is undoubtedly Northwest Regional Health, a member of UAB Health System. Throughout its fifty year history, the Winfield hospital has been providing the finest healthcare to the Winfield community and its citizens in the region. Northwest Regional Health is a 49-bed acute care hospital in Winfield. The hospital provides a full-service surgery department, including general, endoscopic, ophthalmologic, and gynecologic surgery, among other clinical operations. Northwest Regional Health also has programs in pain management, wound care, sleep medicine and senior care geropsychiatry services. The hospital provides a level three trauma center, and wellness and specialty clinics. Northwest Regional Health is a member of the UAB Health System.

Northwest Regional Health has more than sixty dedicated highly trained physicians on staff. Approximately thirty-five percent of its physicians are primary care practitioners, while sixty-five percent are in specialized medicine. Eighty-five percent of the physicians on staff are board certified in their field of medicine. The hospital constantly strives to make its healthcare services as personal, professional and convenient as possible, serving nearly 2,500 inpatients and 60,000 outpatients annually. Fifty percent of our patients come from Marion County, with the balance from 4 surrounding counties.

The Medical Center offers a modern a thirty bed Medical/Surgical Unit, a new in-house Surgery Center (opened April 1, 2009) Intensive Care Unit, and twenty-four hour emergency care. Centers of excellence include Wound Care, Wellness and rehabilitation, Cancer Center, Ambulatory Surgery and a Mental Health Partial Hospitalization facility. Other important services offered include twenty-four hour Emergency Department. Campus facilities include a freestanding Cancer Center, Physician Office Building, Wellness and Rehabilitation Center, Specialist Medical Clinic and Assisted Living Center. Other off site programs include Physician Clinics, Home Health Agency and a free standing clinic in Sulligent, the Lamar Regional Health Clinic. Local physicians and healthcare professionals can provide almost any medical service that you need. It is not necessary to travel long distances since most medical services are now offered locally.
