The Winfield Chamber of Commerce voted earlier today to cancel this year’s event as a cautionary step during the COVID-19 pandemic. This will mark the first time the event has been cancelled since its inception in 1975.
Organizers have promised to make next year’s festival the best ever.
"The Ivan K. Hill Disc Golf Course is the first course in Winfield and a great location for new and experienced players alike. With holes weaving through the baseball fields, through trees, and around the entire park, Ivan K. Hill Disc Golf Course will challenge any type of player.
With a total distance of over 6,000 ft and out of bounds on nearly every hole, this tournament quality course will bring in players from all over the North Alabama area for a unique disc golf experience. As a health benefit this course will have you walk nearly 2.5 miles for every round!"
Below is a diagram of the new course.

You will set up a time to pick up your items outside the front entrance.
All return items must be returned in the outside book/media deposit on the sidewalk.
PLEASE have your items in a bag if it is raining.
You can view our collection online by going to www.winfieldpubliclibrary.com
At the top of the page click the Library Search link. This will let you search or browse our collection.
You have 2 choices to reserve items:
We ask that patrons stay in their vehicle and call the library at 205-487-2484 to inform staff you are in the parking lot.
The staff will let you know if your items are ready and will place on a table outside in a bag with your name attached.
We ask that all patrons follow social distancing protocols while waiting for your items.
6-feet spacing will be marked outside but waiting in your car will be the best procedure.
We are safely reopening the library in phases. Please be patient as the library remains closed until further notice.
The Covid-19 virus has had an unprecedented impact on the library and the communities we serve.
Our plan to reopen is dependent on factors such as recommendations from local and national health agencies, social distancing protocols, critical community needs, and a sustained reduction in new Covid-19 cases within the community for at least 14 days. The primary consideration is maintaining the safety of library patrons and staff while finding ways to provide necessary services that the library is uniquely positioned to perform.
NO DONATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THIS TIME – NO EXCEPTIONS!
PHASE III will be announced ASAP. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been a difficult and trying few months as new information comes out weekly. In our best effort to protect our players, coaches, families and the community, we have made the decision to cancel our baseball and softball seasons until the fall. We plan to offer these programs in the fall, in addition to volleyball and soccer.
We will be calling each players parent/guardian to determine the best option for refunds.
Option 1 - receive the jersey and use the balance of the amount paid as a donation to the park.
Option 2 - receive the jersey and a refund of the amount paid above the cost of the jersey.
During this time, all athletic fields will remain closed as will playgrounds, Senior Center, and the Community Center. The Walking track is available for walking. We encourage you to continue to follow the state's social distancing guidelines.
We will update the public via the City's social media outlets and website as more information becomes available. This community's welfare is of the utmost importance to us during this time, and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
We plan to come back in the fall prepared, stronger and better than ever!
