According to the Winfield Chamber of Commerce, Mule Day has once again been cancelled due to Alabama's COVID-19 public health emergency. The chamber regrets that this action is necessary, but felt that this was the best course of action considering the increase in COVID-19 cases in the area. It is our hope that the festival can be resumed in 2022.
Statement from Dana Peoples, Chamber President: "We greatly regret that Mule Day 2021 has been cancelled. COVID-19 continues to pose a serious public threat to the State of Alabama and to our community. On August 13, 2021, Governor Kay Ivey declared that a state public health emergency now exists."
"The Winfield Chamber of Commerce board of directors met on August 16th and voted unanimously to cancel this year’s event scheduled for September 24-25."
