She began working for the City of Winfield in November of 1979, when she was appointed as the first Court Clerk for the Winfield Municipal Court. These designations awarded by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, are required as course study in continuing education. An additional requirement for the above designations is membership in the AAMCA (Alabama Association of Municipal Clerks and Administrators) of which she maintained during her tenure as City Clerk.

Over the years she has volunteered for several charitable organizations serving 10 years as Committee Member and Planner for Marion County’s Relay for Life, 8 years in annual fund raising for the American Heart Association and 2 years assisting with supply drives for Safeplace, Inc. As a member of Winfield Mid-Day Kiwanis, Candy served as secretary for 9 years (2000 thru 2009) and a one year term as club president.

A member of Winfield Church of Christ for 25 years, she teaches Bible class and volunteers with the weekly Caregivers Meals Program.
